Reduce- ReUse – recycle

The Covid 19 pandemic has demonstrated the great resilience of the hospitality industry. Many restaurants have ‘pivoted’ to offer take-away restaurant standard food but this has created a potential problem which doesn’t lie comfortably with many restauranteurs – additional plastic waste. Compostable options are available but are not always practical for the dishes we are offering and can be expensive.

Reusing and recycling containers is a great way to save money on storage containers, organising those annoying 'bits and bobs', propagating seeds or crafting, the opportunities are endless.

In creating The French Rooms Valentine Fireside Picnic Box we gave serious thought to recycling opportunities. Our branded keepsake box is an attractive yet sturdy box, perfect for storing mementos and cherished possessions. We have also sourced BPA Free reusable meal prep containers with airtight lids which are suitable for the microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Sauces and dips are served in mini reusable deli pots with lids. BPA free and food safe, crafted with durable yet flexible high quality recyclable material.

Many of us have been spending lockdown re-organising, de-cluttering or at least thinking about it. We have had time to absorb advice from the great Marie Kondo, followed Gretchen Rubin or listened to endless podcasts on the subject in search of the motivation to get stuck in. Reusing disposables might just help in the Covid 19 friendly task which has been described as the first step to re-organising your entire life – yes, I’m obsessed!

  1. I have used all the wee pots from your delicious platters to store beads that I found when clearing out a old jewellery box, the trays and lids have gone to the greenhouse as extra protection in the cold for wee seedlings and for carrying pots outside to harden off in due course. All helps a bit!
