Valentine’s in lockdown sounds romantic but as we have been lockdown for what seems like years now we need to prepare in advance for ‘a quiet night in’ with a difference. Restaurants are normally inundated with calls at this time of the year by desperate guests begging to be ‘squeezed in’, ‘its just for 2’ , ‘nice romantic table please’ or ‘we wont stay long’. As a last minute call to your favourite restaurant is not an option this year, The French Rooms are offering a ready to serve Valentines Fireside Picnic Box which requires little effort , allowing you time to light those candles, open the wine and get the perfect playlist on the go .

A Bespoke French Rooms keep sake box will be filled with a range of tasty treats, ready to serve with the option of adding a bottle of Titanic Red , a South African Cabernet Sauvignon which is a premium red on our House Wine Menu or a bottle of Graham Beck sparkling Brut which has famously been served at both Nelson Mandela’s and Barak Obama’s Inaugurations. Tasting notes below. In the spirit of ‘Sharing the Love’ we are delighted to donate £1 per bottle of South African wine to the inspirational Kusasa Project (see below).

SPREAD THE LOVE
By adding a bottle of Graham Beck Brut or Titanic Cabernet Sauvignon you are ‘Spreading the Love’ as The French donates £1 for every bottle of South Africa wine sold. 2020 has had a devastating effect on our fundraising efforts and the inspirational Kusasa Project is just one of the Charities we support. In 2021 we are planning to embrace the challenge and come up with some fun initiatives which will help us to continue to support young people here in Bushmills and South Africa. There is a natural synergy in the fact that both locations are beautiful in many ways and rely on tourism and many of the initiative we support are based on empowering young people – our leaders of tomorrow. For all those customers who drank tea, coffee, water and South African wine over the short time we were open during 2020 , we thank you as you have contributed to our charities and that is much appreciated!

Graham Beck Brut
From the beautiful Western Cape. This stunning South African ‘Methode Cap Classique’ is affectionately dubbed the ‘President’s Choice’, the Brut was served at both Nelson Mandela’s and Barak Obama’s inauguration. Light yeasty aromas, limey fresh fruit on the nose and rich creamy complexity on the palate.
Titanic Cabarnet Sauvignon
Produced by prolific winemaker Louis Nell in the magnificent wine lands of Stellenbosch. Titanic Cabarnet Sauvignon is a strong and smooth red, bursting with flavours of berries and subtle oak. The expectation on the nose is backed up on the palate with soft luscious tannins and delicate fruit flavours.
